Meet the Team
Michael has served as an executive for several ventures, including in the wine industry, and helped to facilitate both Naked Wines’ and Wine Owners’ successful launch into the US market. Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Michael’s first allegiance was to whisky, but he now shares his love and appreciation of Napa via winerywiz.com, a site he co-created to help guide others in their search for great wine experiences
For 4 years Sara has utilized her clinical experiences to help wineries shift the behaviors of their purchasers. Her passion for the power of data and natural curiosity are her superpowers when working with Emetry’s clients to develop relevant answers wineries can act on. When not embroiled in winery data, the California native can be found hiking in the beautiful California landscape. Sara is also an avid (and talented) crochetier and fan of Dr. Who.
Bill entered the wine industry in 2013 by obtaining CSW and WSET wine education certificates. He cut his teeth working in wine hospitality for 3 years before landing at WineGlass Marketing as a data analyst and programmer. While at WGM, Bill developed data onboarding software for various wine CRMs and 3rd party integrations. With his combined experience in wine hospitality, data, and software development, Bill brings a granular understanding of DtC technologies to Emetry.

In 1983 the class materials created for the school’s dBase II class were published as Understanding and Using dBase II, the first of over 50 books including the best-selling series Inside the Norton Utilities (the Official Guide) in cooperation with Peter Norton.
Returning from Bosnia, where he worked on the team that created the data infrastructure for the post war elections, he took on the task of building a true cost accounting database for Mondavi to replace a patchwork of ledgers and spreadsheets. It was there he encountered the DTC (Direct To Consumer) boutique producer business segment. Sensing the acute need, he created Winebase2 that brought modern database technology to a market that was primarily working manually. Winebase2 not only processed a wide variety of club types, sales grew to integrate POS and online components in a single unified application which also include the innovation of a compliance engine that validated out of state sales automatically.
Moving on to other markets Rob served for 15 years as the head programmer and database architect for the bay area startup Pet Food Express which grew from a dozen east bay locations into a chain of over 60 stores across California.
Rob is currently working in the Urology Department of UCSF working with an outstanding group of physicians and researchers to create a database infrastructure that integrates EMR (Electronic Medical Records) with a wide variety of applications (e.g. Salesforce) and technologies (e.g. RNA precursor genetic material).
Rob has also taught database design and programming and networking at Diablo Valley College.
